The light fun ring pays homage to the Turtle Excluder Device (TED) which can be used by shrimp trawlers to save some of the thousands of turtles which are killed each year in shrimp trawling nets. In one of the early years of TED deployment ~ 4000 turtles were saved in US waters due to the adoption of the TED.
