The prototype piece to determine if breakthrough etching was a viable process for bringing the Radiolaria Series to life. Based on Ernst Haeckel’s drawing of this microscopic sea creature which sat on my workbench for years as I mulled over how to create what I’d envisioned in my head in an eco-friendly manner. See more of Haeckel’s drawings in his book “Art Forms In Nature” based on his 1862 drawings of creatures from the waters of the Strait of Messina. Joined with brass fasteners.
