Hi, Sulie,
Citric acid and allum (pickling spice) will work; they both take longer than the 'chemical' version

If there's a pool supply place nearby, sodium bisulfate (also called pH down or pH minus) is the same ingredient as in the commercially available pickling solution. Make sure it's bisulfATE, not bisulfITE.

All the above are powders that you add to water, and they all work faster if heated in a crockpot.

Thanks so much for the pictures. I made my first piece with copper art clay yesterday, and plan to fire it tomorrow with a torch. I live in Austria and wouldnt begin to know where to find picklling solution: is there a home-made version that I can use to remove the fire scale that quencing wont?
Many thanks,
Sulie

I am really interested in learning Ruth Asawa's wire sculpting technique. I know Nancy Banks demonstrated this some time back. How can I get in touch with her, or find out if she plans to teach this technique again. I have been search to find out how to do this for years.
Any help would be appreciated.
